Terms & Conditions
By scheduling service with Hill Electric, you agree to the following terms and conditions:
1. Scope of Work: Hill Electric shall perform the service work requested in the initial scheduling intake contingent upon unforeseen conditions and/or other unexpected events. All work is to be performed with quality workmanship and as per the current National Electrical Code (NEC) codes. Please note that additional work required to meet code requirements and/or additional work requested by the Client during the site visit may require an additional service appointment(s).
2. Warranty: Our workmanship is guaranteed for a period of one year from completion date. Hill Electric is not responsible for product failure and/or any failure from a product manufacturer.
3. Pricing: All work shall be billed as “Time and Material”. Hill Electric currently bills labor at a rate of $130 per hour. All service appointments during regular business hours are billed with a minimum labor charge of 1 hour. Subsequent labor shall be billed in 15-minute increments. If the service appointment should end between a 15-minute increment of time, that labor shall be rounded to the next 15-minute increment. Labor charges shall be totaled from the time of dispatch to the time of completion. Materials shall be billed at Hill Electric’s cost plus a reasonable mark-up to cover cost of purchasing, storing, and transporting of the materials. In addition, Hill Electric also includes a surcharge of $5.00 for fuel and a surcharge of $3.00 for miscellaneous safety and shop supplies that may be used during the service appointment.
4. Overtime Pricing: Work performed outside of normal business hours shall be at a labor rate of $200 per hour. Work performed on Sundays or Holidays shall be billed at a labor rate of $260 per hour.
5. Emergency Dispatch Pricing: Emergency work (work dispatched outside of our normal business hours) shall be subject to a $40 emergency dispatch fee and a 2-hour labor minimum. In addition, labor charges shall be totaled as “port-to-port”: from the time of dispatch to the time of the Electrician’s return to home.
6. Estimates: Hill Electric does not provide estimates for standard service or small repair issues and shall handle these issues only on a “Time & Material” basis. Client may request a free estimate for larger projects (e.g. car charger installation, service upgrades) but must do so at the time of scheduling. Failure to request an estimate at the time of scheduling may result in the incurrence of a minimum diagnostic fee. Often, our dispatcher or electrician may provide a rough approximation of time needed to complete the project. This approximation does not change the “Time and Material” nature of the service call as the approximation may not account for all work required due to unforeseen conditions.
7. Minimum Diagnostic Fee: Hill Electric shall bill a minimum diagnostic fee of $75 for service calls that result in no work performed due to unknown conditions, request for an estimate, client direction, or client cancellation/no-show without prior notice.
8. Payment Terms: Client agrees to pay Hill Electric, in full, within 30 days of invoice, or will be subject to additional fees including, but not limited to, 1.5% interest per 30 days with a minimum interest charge of $2.00. If collection methods are deemed necessary by Hill Electric, the client shall be held responsible for any and all fees associated including, but not limited to, attorney fees, court costs, collections fees, interest, etc. Hill Electric retains ownership of any material or products used to complete the service until paid in full. Hill Electric reserves the right to remove the equipment or material if payment is not received. Credit card payments exceeding $200 (in full or collectively), will be subject to a credit card surcharge of 3.0%.
9. Lien Rights: As required by the Wisconsin construction lien law, Hill Electric hereby notifies owner that persons or companies performing, furnishing, or procuring labor, services, materials, plans, or specifications for the construction on owner’s land may have lien rights on owner’s land and buildings if not paid. Those entitled to lien rights, in addition to the undersigned claimant, are those who contract directly with the owner or those who give the owner notice within 60 days after they first perform, furnish, or procure labor, services, materials, plans or specifications for the construction.
10. Dispute Resolution: This Agreement shall be governed by the laws of the State of Wisconsin, and the parties hereby agree that the exclusive venue for the litigation of disputes between the parties shall be in the courts located in Dane County, Wisconsin. Hill Electric reserves the right to recover collections costs, including, but not limited to, filing costs, court costs, attorney costs, late fees, and interest. Any action related to the breach of this agreement must commence after Hill Electric has a 60-day period as right to cure.
